General Tsuba Fuchi-Kashira Menuki Kogai & Kozuka

Here you can see the overview of the Tsuba / Sword Guard that was mounted on the Japanese Samurai sword, which also included at swords together with the Menuki, Fuchi-Kashira, Kozuka, Ko-katana and Kogai at the Katana, Wakizashi, and Tanto, which we currently in our assortment with or without NBTHK Hozon or Tokubetsu Hozon certificate. All these items are old/antique or one-off, so no reproductions. On the left you see a short description and on the right the corresponding image. End of Shinshinto period, very special sublime polished Shibuichi Tsuba in oval shape, with Mount Fuji or as the Japanese say Fujiyama with snow in silver on top and the rising sun with sunbeams, gold inlaid, and at the bottom the waves with water splashing and gold inlay drops of the Japanese Sagami sea. On the back a rhyme or poem engraved, very dark patina, this Tsuba is from the Mito School.

The Tsuba has NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Token papers and is credited to; Aki Ta Sho Ami (Harukata Tetsu) depicting a Centipede in Shakudo with a roof tile, in very good condition.

Edo period, very beautiful DaiSho set of Tsuba's in Mokko Gata shape, with the classic representation of Buffalo, this Tsuba set is attributable to the: Waki Goto school. Both tsuba's are in Shakudo with very fine super well-arranged Nanako with Buffalo in gold in very high relief and well detailed with trees and flowers. The Tsuba's are in super good condition without damage.

Meji period, very beautiful DaiSho set of Tsuba’s in Marugata shape, with the representation of a repeating motif of leaves in gold and silver with an edited edge of silver. This DaiSho set is in excellent condition without damage, this Tsuba set is from the Kenjo school from Kyoto.

With a copy of an equal set from an auction house as an example, this Tsuba set is signed: Jyuryuken Eiju (after Obu Tsubach) of the Akasaka school.

Early Edo period iron tsuba for a Katana or wakizashi.
The Tsuba has a Maru-gata (almost round) shape with and leaves depicting vines, there is a signature, but it is not legible, in good condition with beautiful patina.

Gendai period iron tsuba for a Katana or wakizashi.
This Tsuba is a Gendai (newly made) by UNRYUSHI, this is a contemporary Tsuba maker with a MUKANSA title (may deliver to the imperial court) the Tsuba has a Kiku-gata shape with several Mons (family crests) the Tsuba is inlaid with thin gold wire and also the side / edge is inlaid. The mons are partly openwork, in super good condition and museum quality.

Often the Saotome tsuba can be seen in an openwork version, this set tsuba's is closed and solid iron.
